An Overview of Middle Eastern Museology through Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies with a Focus on Jordan
(2021) Guneroz, Ceren; Karaoz, Billur Tekkok
The Arabian Gulf has gained international attention in museum studies due to the number of new museums with cultural policies that have opened within the last decade. In particular, there have been developments in the Gulf countries such as Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar, and in the center of the Middle East such as Jordan. This study highlights Jordanian museums that seek to show a unity of national culture with contents similar to Western museums and examines cultural heritage studies in Jordan in terms of both historical and contemporary museum approaches. In Jordan, cultural heritage studies evolved within a system of historical development and practices. This research compares traditional and contemporary Jordanian museums in line with their histories, mission, vision, and approaches to museology. Archeology museums, university museums, a children's museum, and the Jordan National Museum are evaluated, and a general framework is created for museology in the Middle East. It is pointed out that the increase in the number and variety of museums since the 1990s is a positive development, but at the same time, museums are struggling with financial difficulties and a lack of qualified staff. Moreover, common problems affecting museology in Jordan include a lack of educational units in museums other than a few major museums in the country, need for the use of modern technology, lack of cooperative studies, lack of complementary activities such as conferences and seminars, difficulty of competition with other organizations in the entertainment industry, lack of promotional materials, and insufficient public opinion in the fields of archeology and cultural heritage.

    (2019) Bilge, Betul
The risks that emerge during an emergency and disasters as well as the damages caused by such risks adversely affect human lives, the buildings they live in and the interiors of such buildings. Emergency and disaster management system is a holistic process. Within this process, the Interior Architects' command in the flow of management system is significant in terms of being acquainted with when to step in and at what point of the system flow to play a part. The risks that are revealed as a result of management activities and the requirements produced afterwards designate the necessity for taking and implementing measures beforehand. At this point, how important the indoor arrangements and planning are in terms of loss of lives and safety during and after an incident rises distinctively to the surface, apart from the structural arrangements intended for prevention and mitigation. The system built should demonstrate not attenuating but strengthening and supporting approaches in terms of a secure design. A safe architecture that has been established in line with legal requirements and regulations is an integral part of a system that cannot be abstracted from interior space. In the study, Interior Space Design Approaches as Part of "Passive Safety Measures"which area part of the emergency management system have been characterised. The system setup discussed pursuant to fire threat has identified the fundamental approach criteria in terms of a secure indoor evacuation. The purposed design system relation has been assessed on the historical Famagusta- Bandabuliya Building that has been refunctioned.

The most scary truth that every living creature has to face can be considered as evanescence. Human beings vary from the other living creatures by consciousness of this unplesant truth.
