Item Consecutive, Bilateral Obturator Hernia in a Single Case(2023) Aydin, H. O.; Soy, E. H. A.; Avci, T.; Tezcaner, T.; Yildirim, S.Obturator hernia (OH) is a rare pelvic hernia. It is difficult to make an early diagnosis due to the absence of a palpable mass, so it has a high morbidity and mortality rate, and there is delay in surgery. Here, in this report, we present a case of bilateral OH diagnosed at different times. Our report is meaningful as it reveals consecutive OH in a single case. An 87-year old, female patient admitted to emergency with intestinal obstruction findings. Right obturator herniation was seen in a computed tomography (CT) scan, then she underwent urgent surgery. After 2 months, she admitted with left thigh pain. With these findings, CT scans confirmed left OH. In an elderly, skinny, female patient with non-specific bowel obstruction symptoms and medial thigh pain, OH should be considered. Early and rapid radiologic evaluation, followed by surgery, is essential for successful management of OH.Item Solitary Cecal Diverticulitis Mimicking Cecal Carcinoma(2018) Ezer, Ali; Parlakgumus, Alper; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3834-9924; 29866226; AAJ-8558-2021Cecal diverticulum is a rare clinical condition which may present as acute abdomen through diverticulitis and perforation of diverticulitis. Surgical treatment of cecal diverticulitis has been controversial, with studies recommending options ranging from conservative management with antibiotics alone to aggressive resection. Two cases, one of which was pre-diagnosed with cecal tumor perforation and the other with cecal tumor leading to intestinal obstruction, were urgently operated. To both patients, right hemicolectomy was applied. Pathologic evaluation revealed cecal diverticulitis in both patients. Right hemicolectomy is principally reserved for patients experiencing perforation of the diverticulum and extensive inflammatory reaction.Item Radiologic findings mimicking acute abdomen in a patient with colorectal cancer: are these side effects of FOLFIRI therapy?(2016) Karadeli, Elif; Erbay, Gurcan; Koc, Zafer; 0000-0002-1706-8680; 0000-0002-0352-8818; 0000-0003-0987-1980; AAK-5370-2021; AAK-5399-2021; S-8384-2016Bowel perforation is an emergency problem, it presents as an acute abdomen. Computurize tomography (CT) is important imaging modality used to evaluate patients with acute abdomen. CT shows anatomical detail and intestinal wall, evaluating secondary signs of bowel disease within the surrounding mesentery and detecting even small amounts of extraluminal air or oral contrast leakage into the peritoneal cavity. The aim of this article is to illustrate acute abdominal CT findings due to FOLFIRI therapy of a patient with colorectal cancer. Interestingly, this patient was an emergency case based on radiologic findings, but he felt good, had no emergency problem clinically.
