Voices from the Field: What Do Turkish Students Suggest? A Socio-Ecological Study on School Belonging
(Başkent Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Fakültesi, 2024-04-29) Akbaba Altun, Sadegul; Turan Bora, Hatice
The study of school belonging has become increasingly important as the sense of belonging to school is a source of motivation that influences students' behaviour. This study aims to explore students' views on what society, principals, teachers, guidance counsellors, families and students should do to increase students' sense of school belonging. The study is a basic qualitative research. Eight hundred and seventy-six high school students from T & uuml;rkiye were asked to answer open ended questions about what school stakeholders should do to ensure that students feel a sense of belonging to school. This study found some different results compared to previous studies by revealing the expected behaviour of stakeholders outside the school, such as society and family. Belonging to school is highly complex and linked to some of society's most challenging problems and therefore needs to be examined within the school and its environment. For this reason, the research findings on what stakeholders should do to increase school belonging are presented within the framework of the socio-ecological systems model.

Is The Repair Bond Strength Affected When Substrate And Repair Composite Are Not Of The Same Kind? A Systematic Review And Meta-Analysis: Effect Of Repair Composite On Repair Bond Strength
(Başkent Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi, 2024-03-21) Kose, Leyla Kerimova; Isik, Hatice; Eyuboglu, Tan Firat; Ozcan, Mutlu; Cehreli, Sevi Burcak; Arhun, Neslihan
The aim was to evaluate the influence of repair resin type on repair bond strength in the direct resin restorations through a systematic review. Electronic databases MEDLINE via PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, BBO, and LILACS were searched, and the reference lists of relevant studies were further hand-searched. A total of 15,709 articles that were browsed yielding to a final of five studies were included in meta-analysis. Analyses were performed using R software with the 'metafor' package, with standardized mean differences employed. A multi-level meta-analysis was conducted utilizing restricted maximum-likelihood estimates (p <= .05). In the shear bond strength group, significant heterogeneity was observed (Q = 50.274, p < .0001), whereas no significant heterogeneity was detected in the microtensile bond strength group (Q = 5.102, p = .4063). Separate analyses of both shear bond strength and microtensile bond strength groups showed no statistically significant differences between dissimilar and similar materials (p > .05). Egger's regression indicated no evidence of publication bias in either group. Sensitivity analyses revealed statistically insignificant pooled effect sizes for shear bond strength. In the microtensile group, one study influenced the results when excluded from the analysis. It could be suggested that the repair of composite resin with the same kind of resin composite is not mandatory.

(Başkent Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi, 2024-02-19) Roy, Soumikh; Das, Anshuman; Kumar, Ramanuj; Das, Sudhansu Ranjan; Rafighi, Mohammad; Sharma, Priyaranjan
This paper explores the challenges of machining difficult-to-cut metals using tools like coated carbide, ceramics, and CBN under dry conditions, addressing issues such as heat generation, tool wear and friction, chip evacuation, surface integrity, vibration, and chatter. Though cutting fluids have historically improved machinability, environmental concerns, such as toxicity and non-biodegradability, are significant. Researchers aim to enhance the economic and ecological aspects of machining by reducing cutting fluid usage. This paper provides an overview of the performance assessment and sustainability evaluation of various cooling and lubrication methods during the machining of hard-to-machine as well as difficult-to-cut metals. Additionally, the literature review highlights various environmentally friendly cooling strategies, such as minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) and cryogenic arrangements. According to the results of this review, the utilization of various cooling and lubrication technologies has the potential to enhance both sustainability and machinability properties while prolonging the lifespan of cutting tools. The findings also show that there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of optimizing and making these cooling-lubrication solutions more practical and effective.

    (2021) Toktamis, Aydin; Akkucuk, M. Husamettin; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4569-1143; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8126-9228; AAJ-2828-2021; AAE-3687-2021
Introduction and objectives: By evaluating systematically and collectively studies examining burnout and accompanying factors of physicians in Turkey. we aimed to obtain a meta-perspective of the relevant reader or researcher. Material and Methods: English and in Turkish databases (Pub Med, Google Scholar, Ulakbim) were searched by using key words of physician, burnout and Turkey to identify Turkish physician burnout studies that have been published. Results: The databases search resulted in finding of forty-nine articles most of which were regional and only seven representing the nationwide perspective. A total of 12,598 physicians were evaluated in the surveys. The calculated mean values, supposedly roughly representing the total universe evaluated in all studies. were 18.3 for emotional exhaustion (EE), 7.9 for depersonalisation (DP) and 20.1 for personal accomplishment (PA), respectively. Conclusion: There is a low level of EE, DP and a high decrease in the sense of PA in physicians working in Turkey. The overall burnout experienced by them is not very high, but also is not very low. Female physicians appear to be at higher risk for EE sub-dimension and the risk of burnout is reduced with increasing age or experience.
