Item Effects of Repair Techniques and Scarf Angles on Mechanical Performance of Composite Materials(2023) Karaduman, Beyza Naz; Elaldi, Faruk; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0592-6868; AAG-5060-2019Today, composite materials, which have the advantage of strength and lightness ratio, have gained great importance especially in the aeronautical industry and automotive sector. With widespread use of composites, the repair of damages caused by external factors has also become an important research topic. In this study, the effects of different repair methods and scarf angles on the mechanical performance of the material were investigated. Scarf angles of 20 degrees, 30 degrees, and 45 degrees have been selected in order not to create too many scarf areas and to find a quick repair method. Also, a comparison of single scarf and double scarf repair was made to find a more robust solution. The samples were produced from carbon fiber prepreg and with the [45/0/90/0/45](2s) fiber orientation. Tensile, compression, and flexural (3-point bending) tests according to ASTM standards were applied to composite samples prepared with single scarf and double scarf repair configurations at different angles. The stress-strain curves obtained as a result of the tests showed that the specimens repaired at 20 degrees had the highest strength. In addition, it has been determined that the samples repaired with double scarf withstand higher forces compared to the samples repaired with single scarf at the same angle.Item The Effects of Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization and Kinesio Taping on Pain, Functional Disability and Depression in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain: A Randomized Trial(2022) Cakmak, Ozge; Atici, Emine; Gulsen, MustafaPurpose: Low back pain is a common condition that can become chronic, which reduces the life quality of the patient by causing functional disability and depression. This study aimed to investigate the effects of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and kinesio taping (KT) along with conservative treatment in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP). Methods: A total of 30 patients with chronic low back pain aged between 30-50 years included in the study were randomized to IASTM (n=15) and KT (n=15) groups. Both the groups underwent conservative treatment that comprised of a hot pack, ultrasound, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and home exercises. In this study, assessments were made using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The measurements were carried out at the beginning and end of the treatment. Results: As a result of the study, IASTM method improved in parameters such as pain (p<0.05), functionality (p=0.001) and depression (p<0.05). As a result of the study, the KT group improved in parameters such as pain, functionality and depression compared to pre-treatment (p<0.05). However, the two treatments were not superior to each other in pain (p=0.241), functionality (p=0.687) and depression (p=0.699) parameters. Conclusion: It has been observed that both treatments have positive effects on many parameters such as pain, disability, depression and mental state in patients with CNLBP. This study demonstrates that IASTM and KT treatments can be used to support therapeutic effects in patients with CNLBP.Item Relationship Between Exercise Perception With Physical Activity Level, Body Awareness, and Illness Cognition in Renal Transplant Patients: A Pilot Study(2019) Tigli, Ayca; Soy, Ebru Hatice Ayvazoglu; Aytar, Aydan; Moray, Gokhan; Haberal, Mehmet; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0993-9917; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2498-7287; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3462-7632; 30777573; AAC-5566-2019; HIR-3735-2022; AAE-1041-2021; AAJ-8097-2021Objectives: Transplantation offers better quality of life and long-term survival benefits. Further knowledge is needed regarding exercise in daily life of transplant recipients. Here, we investigated the relationship between exercise perception and physical activity level, body awareness, and illness cognition in renal transplant patients. Materials and Methods: Our study included 53 renal transplant recipients (Standardized Mini-Mental Test score = 26.35 +/- 1.36; age = 41.11 +/- 13.52 year, body mass index = 25.96 +/- 5.26 kg/m(2), elapsed time after transplant = 3.68 +/- 1.53 year). Perceived benefits and barriers to exercise, physical activity level, body awareness, and illness cognition were assessed with the Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale, International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Body Awareness Questionnaire, and Patient Illness Perception Questionnaire, respectively. Correlations were established with Spearman test for nonparametric data, with regression analysis used to find determinants of physical activity levels. Results: We observed correlations between physical activity level and perceived benefits and barriers to exercise. There was a positive relationship between body awareness and perceived benefits and barriers to exercise and also illness cognition, with significant correlation between perceived benefits and barriers to exercise and illness cognition (P < .05). Perceived benefits and barriers to exercise (P = .006, R = 0.373, R2 = 0.139, beta = 0.373, t = 2.867, F = 8.22) were determining factors for physical activity level. Conclusions: Psychologic and physical factors, including negative emotions and body dissatisfaction, are risk factors for poor quality of life. Although it is important to increase quality of life, tools to enhance body awareness and to develop strategies to alter motor behaviors in daily living activities are needed. Treatment and assessment strategies on body awareness and illness perception should be considered, with emphasis on the importance of physical activity posttransplant.Item Omics in Oxidative Stress Tolerance in Crops(2019) Kayihan, Ceyhun; Eyidogan, Fusun; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1684-4147; Q-4515-2016; ACA-9644-2022Item How patients perceive healthcare services: A case of Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad - Pakistan. SERV Service QUAL Quality(2018) Ali, MuhammadA field study was conducted in Ayub Teaching Hospital in the outpatient department, to evaluate the level of service quality offered by the healthcare services with a view to identifying the relationship between service quality dimensions and overall service quality. The researchers used the SERVQUAL instrument for the purpose of assessing the quality of the service offered by the healthcare workers at the outpatient department in Ayub Teaching Hospital. A sample of 246 patients in the outpatient department participated in the questionnaire survey. Descriptive statistics were used to find out mean values and variance between actual values from perceived values. To assess the strength of model regression, the aforementioned technique was adopted. The study results showed that there exists a gap between patients' expectation and actual services offered by the healthcare workers. There were five dimensions that were assessed: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. The results revealed that patients are dissatisfied with three dimensions (tangibles, reliability and assurance), but they are satisfied with the other two dimensions (responsiveness and empathy). This research adopts the marketing concept to measure the healthcare services. The SERVQUAL tool was modified as per need to meet the requirements in accordance with the nature and scope of the research. Patients' attitudes toward service quality dimensions were the concern of the research. To get a comprehensive evaluation of service quality, healthcare providers have to be considered in future research. Based on the findings of this study, Ayub Teaching Hospital's (ATH) management is in a position to recognize the patients' perceptions about the healthcare services and offer them service accordingly. Results can be used by management and government policymakers regarding healthcare to bring better and more effective services. Consequently, based on the results, new structure can be designed by adopting strategies that improve the quality of services in order to provide effective services and gain patients' satisfaction and propensity to further recommend the services of healthcare to other patients. This study investigates the healthcare quality in a small area in Pakistan. Pakistan is a developing country. Future research can adopt the SERVPREF technique, which is a more developed technique than SERVQUAL in order to measure service quality as it provides a two-factor solution for the dimensionality of health service quality.Item A Cross-Sectional Survey on Consequences of Nurses' Burnout: Moderating Role of Organizational Politics(2016) Basar, Ufuk; Basim, Nejat; 0000-0003-0008-5131; 26988276; ABD-9381-2021; J-2510-2016AimThe aim of the study was to assess whether perceptions of organizational politics (defined as self-serving behaviours at the expense of others) influence the prospective associations between nurses' burnout and its consequences, namely, intention to quit and neglect of work. BackgroundResearchers have previously investigated relationships between nurses' burnout, intention to quit, neglect of work and perceptions of organizational politics in different research models and from different perspectives. As far as we know, no studies have considered whether nurses' perceptions of organizational politics moderate the influence of burnout. DesignA cross-sectional survey using self-report questionnaires. MethodData were collected by questionnaire from a sample of 456 nurses from six private hospitals in Ankara, Turkey in March 2015. Four different previously designed scales were used to measure research variables (burnout, intention to quit, neglect of work and perceptions of organizational politics). Following confirmatory validity and reliability analyses of data collection instruments, descriptive statistics for each research variable were analysed. Structural regression models were created to assess relationships among variables. FindingsBurnout resulted in intention to quit and neglect. Intention to quit partially mediated the association between burnout and neglect. Burnout gave rise to intention to quit slightly more strongly in nurses who had greater perceptions of organizational politics. ConclusionThis study uncovers and emphasizes the moderating role of perceptions of organizational politics in consequences of burnout. This may help hospital managers and nurses to improve costs, efficiency, satisfaction and productivity.Item Neighborhoods of Analytic Functions Associated with Fractional Derivative(2016) Altintas, OsmanIn this paper we define a differential operator and introduce the subclasses F-n,p(q) (lambda, alpha, delta) and K-n,p(q) (lambda, alpha, delta, mu) of functions which are analytic and p-valent in the open unit disk. Also we derive coefficient bounds, distortion inequalities, associated inclusion relation for (n, epsilon)-neighborhoods of the classes, which are defined by means of a certain non-homogeneous differential equation.Item Exposure of Pregnant Women to Violence by Partners and Affecting Factors in Turkey(2016) Alan, Hacer; Koc, Gulten; Taskin, Lale; Eroglu, Kafiye; Terzioglu, FusunThis study aims to determine the exposure of women to violence by their partners during pregnancy and the factors affecting this condition. The current study conducted as descriptive included a total of 442 pregnant women who were married and at the last trimester of their pregnancy. The data were collected using a semi-structure questionnaire and face to face interview with the pregnant women and were evaluated using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis. Of the pregnant women, 39.8 % experienced at least one type of violence, and the most common type of violence experienced was verbal violence (31.4 %). Among the participants, 18.2 % exposed to violence expressed that their partners perpetrated violence because of jealousy, and 30.1 % reported that they just cried when exposed to violence. According to the results of the logistic regression analysis, insufficient prenatal care increases all types of violence in pregnancy. Working with pregnant women and their partners together under the scope of prenatal care services, and especially planning the attempts to prevent violence by discussing the causes of violence with couples, will facilitate more successful violence prevention programs.Item Comparison of Intelligent Classification Techniques by Practicing a Specific Technology Audit(2016) Berkol, A.; Kara, G.; Turk, A.Technology audit activities arc carried out for assessment of firms' technological requirements, capacity or management capability. The aim of these assessments is to define the weaknesses of firms and develop actions in order to improve firms' technological capacity and/or technology management capability. Generally these activities are implemented with survey questionnaires. These questionnaires can be filled by managers of firms or can be implemented as an interview by independent experts. However, evaluating surveys and preparing useful comments related to results can consume lots of time and also contain lots of biases/subjectivity. In accordance to ease the decision making process and provide more verified/accurate results, we develop a methodology based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm which is aimed to behave like a decision maker. And in this study, we use a synthetic data set which is prepared for assessment of technology management capability of selected 70 Turkish firms.Item Scenarios to Manage The Hepatitis C Disease Burden and Associated Economic Impact of Treatment in Turkey(2017) Ormeci, Necati; Malhan, Simten; Balik, Ismail; Ergor, Gul; Razavi, Homie; Robbins, Sarah; 29027109Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a significant health problem. The aim of this study is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of HCV treatment and estimate its economic burden in Turkey. An Excel-based disease progression model was used to estimate the HCV-infected population for 2015-2030. Direct costs in US dollars (USD) including diagnostic, laboratory, and healthcare costs were provided by experts in the country. Indirect costs were estimated as lost productivity using the World Health Organization (WHO) disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) metric from the Global Burden of Disease study. Three scenarios were developed to estimate the cost-effectiveness of HCV treatment through 2030: Base 2016, Increase Treatment and SVR (where SVR is sustained virological response), and WHO Targets. Additionally, the WHO Targets scenario was assessed at three different treatment price points: 10,900 USD, 16,730 USD (base cost), and 27,285 USD. Cumulative total direct and indirect costs (2015-2030) for the WHO Targets scenario were estimated to be 10.8 billion USD, or a 1.5 % increase compared with Base 2016. However, by the following decade, due to a marked decline in DALYs, cumulative direct and indirect costs were estimated to be 45 % less when compared with Base 2016. At a threshold of 9125 USD, all scenarios were cost-effective. By implementing the WHO Targets scenario, Turkey would be able to lower HCV prevalence by 80 % and reduce the total number of liver-related deaths by > 65 % by 2030. Treating HCV infection in the country is cost-effective if healthcare and indirect costs are taken into consideration.
