    Impacts of the First World War on Africa and Colonialism

    The impacts of the First World War on Africa and the colonialism in Africa are a subject which is not sufficiently studied in the disciplines of political and military history, political science, and international relations. In this article, it is aimed to partially fill the gap in question. In this context, the conduct of the First World War battles in Africa and their effects on the Continent have an importance. In addition, the exploitation of human and other resources of the Africa by the colonial powers, especially Britain and France, in the battles fought in European fronts is an issue to focus on. In this respect, the colonial recruitment practices, the resistance of indigenous peoples, the employment of Africans in the battles and the casualty rates are noteworthy. The war's contribution to the national liberation struggles and the changes emerged in the colonialism fact also need to be emphasized. The First World War has had significant negative effects on Africa in the economic, social and military fields. German colonies changed hands between the victors of the First World War and colonialism with all the violence has continued. But the war gave the first spark of the national liberation movements in Africa.

    Psychic Distance Between Turkey and Central Asian Turkish Republics

    Psychic distance has an important role in selecting the country markets and determining the suitable strategies for these markets. This study was conducted to examine the import and export activities between Turkey and Central Asian Turkish Republics and to undertand the psychic distance between these countries and Turkey. As a result of the investigation it was found that Azerbaijan is the closest and Turkmenistan is the farthest country to Turkey. It is believed that the study will contribute to the literature of the Turkish World by examining the commercial activities between Turkey and related countries from the perspective of psychic distance.

    The Pattern of Stable Personality in Predicting the Subjective Well-Being: The Mediating Role of Psychological Capital

    The concept of subjective well-being that is considered to be counterpart of the "happiness" in the psychological science is one of the indicators of how individuals think and sense their lifetime. The main purpose of this study is to explore the effects of the big five personality in the light of the genetic or personality theories and psychological capital with regards to the process or activity theories on the subjective well-being, and to seek for the mediating role of the psychological capital in this process. The data were collected at twelve-day intervals from 361 employees working in various positions in a courier company with using survey method. The survey battery comprised of Well-being Scale, Big Five Personality Scale and Psychological Capital Scale. The data were analyzed with using Amos v20.0 and SPSS v20.0 programs. The findings showed a significant positive relationship between extraversion, agreeableness, psychological capital and subjective well being, and a significant negative relationship between neuroticism and subjective well being. In addition to that psychological capital mediated the relationship between the extroversion and subjective well being. The results allowed researchers to make casual inferences about the relationship between stable personality characteristics and psychological attributes indicated as intraindividual distal and proximal context in the well being literature.

    Paradoxical Leadership Model

    The aim of this research is to develop a new theoretical leadership model, which explains the dark and bright sides of leadership with a holistic view, and thereby, to trigger a new debate through bringing in a new perspective to leadership phenomenon in the light of extant theories. In this respect, following a review of historical development process of leadership theories, drawing on LMX theory a new theoretical leadership model was developed. Because it explains dark and bright behaviors of a leader with a holistic view, this new model was defined as paradoxical leadership model. Theoretical and practical implications of paradoxical leadership model, as well as how new avenues will be opened for researchers in the future were discussed.

    The Effect Of Occupational Identification On Burnout: The Mediation Role Of Workload Perception And Psychological Resilience

    This study was conducted to examine the mediation role of workload perception and psychological resilience in the effect of occupational identification on burnout. The research model that was constructed within the scope of the research variables, was tested with the data which were gathered from 503 nurses. The analysis of the survey data indicates that occupational identification is negatively associated with burnout and workload, positively associated with psychological resilience. The findings also indicate that workload perception positively and psychological resilience negatively associated with burnout. It was determined that workload perception and psychological resilience, had a partial mediation role in the effect of occupational identification on burnout. In addition to that, only emotional exhaustion dimension of burnout was found to be high, despite nursing occupation were characterized with the highest burnout among others in the relevant literature.

    Veri madenciliğine dayalı akıllı fon portföy optimizasyon sistemi

    Portföy optimizasyonu kavramı günümüzde oldukça yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Minimum risk, maksimum getiri mantığı ile optimal potföyler farklı modeller ile oluşturulmaktadır. Ancak gelişen teknoloji ve hızlı ilerleyen bilim çağında klasik optimizasyon modelleri geride kalmaya başlamışlardır. Çok fazla veri yüklü ile uğraşan ve bu yüzden oldukça vakit kaybeden finansal analizciler, veri madenciliği yöntemleri ile optimizasyonları daha hızlı ve güvenilir bir şekilde yapmaya başlamışlardır. Bu sayede finansal analizciler ihtiyaçları olmayan veriler ile çalışmak yerine, sadece optimazyon için gerekli verilerle, daha kısa bir sürede analizlerini gerçekleştirebilmektedirler. Bu tezde kullanılan yatırım fon portföy günlük getiri değerleri, veri madenciliği tekniklerinden kümeleme analizi ve yapay sinir ağları modeli ile tahmin edilmiş, oluşturulan modelin getiri ve riski test edilmiştir. Amaç; tasarlanan modelin, mevcut fon portföy sepetinden daha yüksek getirili ve daha düşük riskli portföyler oluşturmaktadır. Modelin testi sonucunda oluşturulan fon portföylerinin başarılı olduğu, yani fon portföy getirisinin daha yüksek, riskinin ise daha düşük olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu çalışmada sadece bu dönem için bir model değil gelecekteki veriler ile de akıllı bir model oluşturmak amaçlandığı için ve gelecekteki verilerin durumunu bilinmediği için yapay sinir ağları modeli tercih edilmiştir. Yapay sinir ağları ile oluşturulan portföylerin getirilerinin daha yüksek, risklerinin ise daha düşük olduğu saptanmıştır. Tezin son kısmında oluşturulan modelin akış şeması çizilerek, model akıllı bir sistem haline getirilmiştir. Bu sayede güncel veriler ve teknikler ile sistem kendi kendini güncelleyebilecektir. Sistem ve akış şeması, modelin farkı veriler ile otomasyona dayalı olarak çalışmasına da izin vermektedir. Oluşturulan optimal modelin, hem literatüre hem de uygulamcılara önemli ölçüde katkısı olması beklenmektedir. Potfolio optimization concept is very popular in Daily use. With minimum risk-maximum return approach, optimal portfolios were established different models. However, in advancing techonolgy and fast developing scientific age basic optimization models are outdated. Financial analysist’s, whom are wasting quite time because of dealing with very large data sets, with the help of data mining concept started to complete optimizations faster and in safer way. By this means financial analysists instead of wasting time with worthless data sets, they can complete their analysis in a very short period. In these thesis, mutual funds portfolio data sets are optimized and tested with clustering method one of the data mining techniques and artificial neural network analysis. The aim of this thesis; the designed model is to create portfolios with higher return and lower risk than the existing portfolio of funds. As a result of the model test, it was concluded that the fund portfolios generated were successful, that is, the fund portfolio yeild was higher and the risk was lower. The artificial neural network model was chosen for this study because not only the state of future data, ıt has been determined that the returns of the portfolios created with artificial neural networks are higher and their risks are lower. In the final part of the thesis the model is turned into smart system with drawing models workflow chart. With up-to-date dates and models, it can update itself. The system and flow chart are also allow for the operation to be based on automation with different datas. This optimal model which is created in this thesis will have importance for users (financial analysists, individual investers, institutorial investors) and literature.

    Kişilik özellikleri ve psikolojik sermayenin psikolojik iyi oluş, akış deneyimi, iş tatmini ve çalışan performansına etkisi

    Bu çalışma örgütsel davranış alanında önemli bir ivme kazanan pozitif psikoloji kapsamında ele alınan temel bireysel değişkenlerin öncüllerini ve sonuçlarını bir yapısal eşitlik modeli kapsamında sınamak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu değişkenler kişilik ve psikolojik sermaye bağımsız değişkenleri, performans, iş tatmini ve psikolojik iyi oluş bağımlı değişkenleri ile işle akış aracı değişkenleridir. Bu doğrultuda üç farklı firmada çalışan 500 beyaz yakalı çalışandan anket yöntemiyle elde edilen verilerle araştırma yapılmıştır. Eldeki bulgular incelendiğinde psikolojik sermaye boyutlarının ve kişilik özelliklerinin çalışanlardaki iyi oluş, iş tatmini ve performansa olan etkileri gözlemlenmiştir. Aynı zamanda, optimal performans düzeyinin, bir diğer adıyla, akışın, psikolojik sermaye boyutları ve kişilik özellikleri ile iyi oluş, iş tatmini ve performans arasında aracılık, kısmi aracılık rolü olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Tüm bulgular ele alındığında, çalışanlar üzerinde olumlu psikolojinin öncüllerinin çalışan iyi oluşuna, iş tatminine ve performansa etkilerini inceleyen bir modelin oluşturulabileceği belirlenmiştir. Aynı şekilde akış kavramının bu model üzerinde aracı olarak etki ettiği ortaya çıkarılmıştır. This study focuses on researching the antecedents of positive psychology which is a very highly researched area in the organizational behavior sciences since the last decade.These antecedents are personality, psychological capital, performance, work satisfaction, psychological well being and flow in orderly. In order to carry out this research 500 surveys have been collected from white collar workers from three different firms in Ankara Turkey. These surveys were subject to structural equation model analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. After the analysis phase it was found that psycological capital dimensions and personality dimensions have positive relationship with psychological well being, job satisfaction and job performance. Also optimal performance state (flow) has partial effect between psychological capital, personality dimensions and psychological well being, job satisfaction and job performance.

    Kamu kurumlarında iç denetim ve bir anket uygulanması

    Dünyadaki gelişmeler ve ekonomik gelişmelerle birlikte, denetim eski dönemlerden bu yana sosyal hayatın içinde yer alarak günümüze kadar gelmiştir. Denetimin pek çok sektöre yararı olmuş, farklı eksikliklerden iç denetim kavramı doğmuş işletmelerin yapısı içinde, kuruma değer katan, bağımsız ve tarafsız bir işlev olarak iç denetim kavramı ortaya çıkmış, ilk defa özel sektörde çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Özel sektörde iç denetim mesleği 1995 itibariyle örgütlenmiş ve Avrupa Birliği adaylığıyla iç denetim kamu sektöründe görülmüştür. Kamu sektöründe denetim kavramı 1927 yılında 1050 sayılı Muhasebe-i Umumiye Kanunu ile başlamış, Kanundaki eksik kavramlarla birlikte yerini, Avrupa Birliği adaylığıyla, 5018 sayılı Kamu Mali Yönetim ve Kontrol Kanununa bırakmıştır. Yeni Kanun ile birlikte hesap verilebilirlik, şeffaflık, iç kontrol gibi kavramlar kamu sektöründe yer bulmuştur. Bir anket çalışması yapılarak Türkiye’deki kamu kurumlarında iç denetim sisteminin durumu izlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada ülkemizdeki kamu kurumlarında iç denetim sistemi incelenmiş, uygulamada ise anket çalışması yapılmış, kamu kurumlarındaki mevcut durum tespit edilmeye çalışılmış, eksiklikler görülmüş, anket sonuçları değerlendirilmiştir. With the latest economic developments together around the World, auditing has been in our lives and has come from previous periods until today. Internal auditing concept arose as an independent and unbiased function, which adds value to the institution within the administrative structure, and first studies were performed in private sector. In public sector however, auditing concept has started with General Accounting Law (Muhasebe-i Umumiye Kanunu) numbered 1050 in 1927; but with the EU candidacy and inadequate concepts within the Law, it has been revised as Public Finance Management and Control Law. Numbered 5018, with the new Law in force, accountability, transparency, internal auditing concepts have found place in public sector. In this study, internal auditing system in the public sector in our country were investigated, a questionnaire was carried out practice, current situation in public instutions were tried to be determined, deficiencies were observed and the results of the questionaires were evaluated.
