    Anaesthetic Management for Orthotopic Liver Transplantation in A Patient with Glycogen Storage Disease Type Iiia

    Glycogen storage disease (GSD) type III is a metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency in amylo-1,6-glucosidase enzyme, which is responsible for the breakdown of the glycogen molecule, resulting in glycogen accumulating in the organs, hypoglycaemia, muscle weakness, liver dysfunction, delayed anaesthetic recovery, excessive surgical bleeding, cardiomyopathy and end-organ dysfunction. This case report presents a child with GSD type IIIa who underwent orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) with her mother as a donor. A multidisciplinary approach should be provided to optimise the preoperative period and minimise complications in these patients.

    Sequential Decision Making for Elevator Control

    In the last decade Reinforcement Learning (RL) has significantly changed the conventional control paradigm in many fields. RL approach is spreading with many applications such as autonomous driving and industry automation. Markov Decision Process (MDP) forms a mathematical idealized basis for RL if the explicit model is available. Dynamic programming allows to find an optimal policy for sequential decision making in a MDP. In this study we consider the elevator control as a sequential decision making problem, describe it as a MDP with finite state space and solve it using dynamic programming. At each decision making time step we aim to take the optimal action to minimize the total of hall call waiting times in the episodic task. We consider a sample 6-floor building and simulate the proposed method in comparison with the conventional Nearest Car Method (NCM).

    The Effects of Using Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Logistics Service Production: An Application in 3pls and 4pls

    Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate how artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic awareness, perceived organizational support, and competitive psychological climate approaches relate to turnover intention. In the literature, studies on robotic awareness and turnover intention have been undertaken in a variety of industries. In this respect, this study aims to address the absence in the literature of research on logistics services providers. This study aims to help businesses understand how to retain employees and foster a more inclusive and supportive workplace.Methods: The study utilizes survey information from 100 senior managers in the operations function of logistics service providers. The outcomes are obtained by modeling structural equations with SmartPLS. Data from the survey were gathered using the snowball sampling technique.Results: The results of the research reveal the effect of artificial intelligence and robotic awareness on competitive psychological and turnover intention.Conclusions: The study aims to explore the role of a competitive psychological climate and organizational support in mediating the relationship between AI and robotics awareness and turnover intention. We identify that awareness of AI and robotics has a considerable, favorable effect on the psychological climate of competition and turnover intention. We also find that the competitive psychological atmosphere has a substantial, favorable effect on turnover intention. In addition, organizational support has been demonstrated to have a substantial, favorable effect on turnover intention. However, it was not possible to identify the mediating role of organizational support and the psychological environment of competition in moderating the association between awareness of AI and robotics and turnover intention. On the basis of the research's findings, suggestions were made.

    Bibliometric Analysis of Articles Published in Cukurova Medical Journal Between 2011 and 2022

    Purpose: This study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis of the abstracts and keywords in articles published in the Cukurova Medical Journal from 2011 to 2022. Materials and Methods: We compiled and analyzed all articles published in the Cukurova Medical Journal between 2011 and 2022, totaling 1734 articles, using VOSviewer software (version 1.6.19). This analysis focused on the terms in the abstracts and the keywords of these articles. Results: The study identified 27,409 unique terms and 4,040 unique keywords in the abstracts of the 1734 articles. The most common terms were 'surgery' (333 occurrences), 'pain' (263), 'infection' (201), 'measurement' (192), 'rat' (185), 'tumor' (177), 'covid' (157), 'pregnancy' (148), 'questionnaire' (144), and 'drug' (142). The top keywords were 'children' (43 occurrences), 'quality of life' (37), 'covid-19' (34), 'nursing' (32), 'pregnancy' (28), 'depression' (27), 'mortality' (26), 'anxiety' (24), 'child' (22), and 'obesity' (17). Conclusion: This is the first bibliometric analysis of keywords and terms used in the Cukurova Medical Journal, offering insights into the evolving topics of interest in the journal's publications. It also provides valuable information for researchers looking to submit articles to the journal, highlighting prevalent themes and content areas.

    Factors Affecting Nurses' Professional Commitment During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross-Sectional Study

    Aim This study aims to investigate the factors affecting nurses' professional commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Background Commitment to a profession requires doing the best for that profession. In the case of the nursing profession, professional commitment gains greater importance in times of crisis, like the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted with 389 nurses in the Turkish state hospital. Institutional permissions, ethical approval and written consents from the participants were obtained before carrying out the study. Results The participants' mean Perceived Organizational Obstruction Scale score was 20.07 +/- 8.06 (min = 5.0, max = 35.0), and their mean Nursing Professional Commitment Scale score was 71.20 +/- 11.94 (min = 30.0, max = 103.0). Socio-demographic variables and perception of organisational obstruction predicted 36.7% of the variance in the professional commitment (p < .001). Conclusion A road map based on the study results was developed for hospitals and nurse managers to maintain and increase nurses' professional commitment. Implications for Nursing Management The results of this study may help institutions and nurse managers understand the factors affecting professional commitment during the pandemic as a whole, as well as determine primary strategies based on the importance of these factors.

    A viable snore detection system: hardware and software implementations

    A stand-alone, custom-made biomedical system was introduced for long-term monitoring of sleep and detection of snoring events. Commercially available electronic components were assembled for recording audio, pulse, and respiration signals. Its software was implemented for off-line processing of the acquired signals in C++ and MATLAB environments. The linear and nonlinear features of the signals were extracted and characterized using spectral energy distribution, entropy, and largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE). The performance of the system was evaluated with real physiological data gathered from 14 chronic snorers. Analysis of the cases indicated that the system identified the snoring events with an accuracy of 88.22%, sensitivity of 94.91%, and positive predictive value of 90.95%. This high level of validation confirmed the reliability and utility of the system in detecting snoring.

    Genome composition analysis of multipartite BNYVV reveals the occurrence of genetic re-assortment in the isolates of Asia Minor and Thrace

    Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) is the cause of rhizomania, an important disease of sugar beet around the world. The multipartite genome of the BNYVV contains four or five single-stranded RNA that has been used to characterize the virus. Understanding genome composition of the virus not only determines the degree of pathogenicity but also is required to development of resistant varieties of sugar beet. Resistance to rhizomania has been conferred to sugar beet varieties by conventional breeding methods or modern genome engineering tools. However, over time, viruses undergo genetic alterations and develop new variants to break crop resistance. Here, we report the occurrence of genetic reassortment and emergence of new variants of BNYVV among the isolates of Thrace and Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). Our findings indicate that the isolates harbor European A-type RNA-2 and RNA-3, nevertheless, RNA-5 is closely related to East Asian J-type. Furthermore, RNA-1 and RNA-4 are either derived from A, B, and P-types or a mixture of them. The RNA-5 factor which enhance the pathogenicity, is rarely found in the isolates studied (20%). The creation of new variants of the virus emphasizes the necessity to develop new generation of resistant crops. We anticipate that these findings will be useful for future genetic characterization and evolutionary studies of BNYVV, as well as for developing sustainable strategies for the control of this destructive disease.

    The Effects of Audience's Attitudes on Actor, Character, Movie and Product Placement on the Brand Attitude

    In recent years, there has been a shift in consumers' media consumption preferences from traditional to digital platforms. Adblocker applications used by consumers who do not want to be exposed to advertising and the digital platforms that offer ad-free content make it increasingly difficult for brands to reach audiences in a highly saturated advertising environment. In this environment, product placement remains essential in reaching the target audiences due to the advantages it offers to brands compared to traditional advertisements. The aim of this study, being distinctly different from previous research, is to test the effects of attitude toward actor and character on attitude toward movies, product placement, and brand. Furthermore, it is aimed to investigate the serial mediating effect between these attitudinal constructs. The data obtained from 300 participants were analyzed with SmartPLS 3.2.8 using partial least squares path analysis (PLS-SEM). As a result, the attitude toward the actor, character, and movie has direct and indirect effects on product placement and attitude toward the brand. Furthermore, the effect of the attitude toward movies and product placement has a serial mediating effect on the relationship between the attitude toward the actor, the character and the brand.
