Item Status of the Albanian Muslims in Greece During the Population Exchange on the Basis of the Minutes of Lausanne Conference and the Reports of the Embassy of Albania in Athens(2017) Ozcan, HalilThe Subcommittee of Population Exchange at Lausanne Conference addressed the exchange topic in twelve sessions between January, 11, 1923 and January 30, 1923. The convention and protocol concerning the exchange between populations of two countries were signed on January 30, 1923 by the Turkish and Greek Governments. Accordingly, it was decided to conduct compulsory population exchange between the "Turkish nationals of Greek Orthodox religion" who had domiciled in Turkish territories and the "Greek nationals of Muslim religion" who had domiciled in Greek territories. Despite Greece provided all assurances at Lausanne Conference and afterwards, it took action to exchange the Albanian Muslims, who lived in Epirus-Chameria region where almost all of the population was Muslim with the immigrant Greeks who came from Anatolia, due to the fact that the Albanian Muslims were "Greek nationals with Muslim religion." During this period, Mid'hat Frasheri was assigned to the Embassy of Albania in Athens on January 1923. The Ambassador discussed the situation of the Albanian Muslims in Greece, with the authorities, the League of Nations, the Mixed Exchange Committee, the Turkish authorities and mainly the Greek authorities. Mid'hat Frashri sent approximately 200 reports, which included these discussions to the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Item Evaluation of Hemodialysis Patients in Terms of Activities of Daily Living, Disability, Depression and Comorbidity(2017) Turgay, Gulay; Tutal, Emre; Sezer, SirenOBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to evaluate the hemodialysis patients in terms of activities of daily living (ADLs), disability, depression and comorbidity. MATERIAL and METHODS: The population of this cross-sectional study included 220 patients undergoing treatment at a dialysis center between June-August 2016. The study sample however was comprised of 144 patients who were 50 years old and above, had been undergoing hemodialysis treatment for at least six months and who agreed to participate in the research. The data was collected using the Patient Identification Form, the Katz Activities of Daily Living Scale, Lawton and Brody Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale, Brief Disability Questionnaire, Charlson Comorbidity Score and Beck Depression Inventory. RESULTS: The patients were divided into two groups: the 50-64 years age group and the 65-plus age group. The patients in the first group were found to have an Activities of Daily Living Scale score of 17.28 +/- 1.45, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale score of 19.98 +/- 3.02, and a Brief Disability Questionnaire score of 7.42 +/- 3.99 whereas the patients in the second group were found to have score of 15.73 +/- 2.53, 17.29 +/- 3.43 and 10.7 +/- 4.18 respectively. CONCLUSION: Hemodialysis and age progression leads to dependency of patients at varying levels while they maintain their activities of daily living.Item Home Application by Hemodialysis Patients for Hypertension Management(2017) Gokdogan, Feray; Kes, Duygu; Turgay, Gulay; Tuna, DonduOBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine home application by hemodialysis patients for hypertension management. MATERIAL and METHODS: The population of the descriptive study included a total of 279 patients who were treated at the hemodialysis centers of two state hospitals, one private hospital and one training and research hospital situated within Karabuk province. A total of 120 patients who were over 18 years of age, had hypertension, could communicate, and whose clinic state were stable, who did not have any mental and psychiatric disorder and who accepted to participate in the research voluntarily were included in the sample. RESULTS: It was determined that 59.2% of the patients who participated in the study did not measure their blood pressures at home regularly; 44.6% did not take their medication regularly and did not know the name and dosages of their medication (60.7% and 64.3% respectively); 73.2% had stopped taking medication without the physician's knowledge; 85% used salt in meals; and 70.8% and 46.7% respectively did not comply with the liquid limitation. CONCLUSION: It is important to reveal the effects of a nursing care approach for supporting hypertension self-management at home of our patients based on their individual characteristics through studies focusing on regular training, monitoring and providing consultancy services.Item Evaluation of postural balance and risk of fall in a healthy adult population(2016) Analan, Pinar Doruk; Yilmaz, Emine Ece; Leblebici, BerrinPurpose: In this retrospective study, it was aimed to evaluate the risk of fall and balance, and to determine whether there is a correlation between the risk of fall and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, which are the evaluating the vestibular system, in the healthy adults who are working in a factory. Material and Methods: The data of 69 male participants have been reached. Bilateral Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials data and Berg Balance Scale of the participants have been recorded along with balance tests and risks of fall by using the Tetrax Interactive Balance System. The correlations between these measurements were measured Results: There was no statistically significant correlation between age and the risk of fall. Also, There ere no significant correlation between the values of latency and amplitude of the bilateral Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential waves, Berg Balance Scale, balance tests, and risk of fall. Berg Balance Scale scores showed a considerably good balance while the risk of fall ranged between 0% and 78%. Conclusion: Advanced age may be not alone significant factor for the risk of fall. Berg Balance Scale may not exactly show the risk of fall in the young adult population. Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials measurements may not provide a significant contribution to evaluate the risk of fall and balance. Our study underlines that there may be a risk of falling more than expected in the community.Item Unilateral peroneal paralysis after squat exercise(2016) Analan, Pinar Doruk; Kaya, Emine; 0000-0002-3528-3712; AAA-8043-2021Peroneal nerve entrapment neuropathy is the most common entrapment neuropathy in the lower extremity. Peroneal nerve may be damaged while passing over the upper neck of fibula or the tunnel shaped space on the origin of peroneus longus muscles. As a result of this neuropathy, walking difficulties and drop-foot secondary to muscle weakness may develop in patients. In this article; clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning of a patient diagnosed drop-foot after squatting exercise were discussed.Item Correlations between problem and solution domain measures of open source software(2017) Ayyidiz, Tulin Ercelebi; Kocyigit, Altan; 0000-0002-7372-0223; AAE-1726-2021Software size measurement and effort estimation methodologies in use today usually take the detailed requirements of software to be developed as the primary input and a certain amount of time and expertise is needed for size measurement. This paper analyzes the open source projects' correlations between the problem domain measures (the number of nouns and verbs) and solution domain measures (the number of software classes and methods). In this paper, 27 open source software projects are analyzed. Linear regression and cross validation techniques are applied to investigate the relation between the sizes of problem domain (i.e., conceptual) and solution domain (i.e., design) measures. The results reveal a strong correlation between the problem domain measures and the solution domain measures constituting the corresponding software. The results suggest that it is possible to use problem domain descriptions in the early stages of software development projects to make plausible predictions for the size and effort of the software.Item Assessing the knowledge in primary health care following an educational course structured in the context of GARD chronic airway diseases national control program(2017) Balkan, Arzu; Oner Erkekol, Ferda; Kokturk, Nurdan; Mungan, Dilsad; Sackesen, Cansin; Onen, Zeynep Pinar; Ozkan, Secil; Ergun, Pinar; Kocabas, Can Naci; Baran Aksakal, Nur; Ekici, Banu; Ozkan Altunay, Zubeyde; Gemicioglu, Bilun; Yorgancioglu, Arzu; 0000-0002-4032-0944; 28990886; AAC-7548-2020Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases are common causes of disease in the community and account for considerable percent of the caseload in primary health care facilities. For this reason, it is important to question and improve the knowledge of primary health care physicians. This study is designed to assess the level of knowledge for bronchial asthma and COPD of the primary healthcare physicians, both before and immediately after an educational course structured in the context of GARD Chronic Airway Diseases National Control Program. Materials and Methods: The participating physicians attended an intensive educational course on asthma and COPD. Twenty five item questionnaires for asthma and COPD were administered to the participants both before and immediately after the end of the course. Contribution of education to the level of knowledge was investigated by comparing the percentages of the correct answers in the pre-and post-test. Results: From 11 different cities, 1817 and 1788 primary health care physician were attended to the asthma and COPD educations, respectively. The accuracy rate of >= 75% was obtained from only 4 questions in pre-test asthma questionnaire. On the contrary, in 15 questions the accuracy rate was < 50%. The mean accuracy rate for the whole asthma test was 45.8%, and this rate raised to 69.6% after education course. The accuracy rate of >= 75% could not be obtained from any of the questions in pre-test COPD questionnaire. On the contrary, in 19 questions the accuracy rate was < 50%. The mean accuracy rate for the whole asthma test was 42.0%, and this rate raised to 71.3% after education course. Conclusion: It has been shown that, in primary care settings, the level of knowledge in asthma and COPD should be enhanced and that this increase can be achieved with an education course.Item THE APPROACH OF ATATURK TO RELATIONS BETWEEN TURKEY AND ALBANIA BEFORE THE PROCLAMATION OF MONARCHY, IN THE LIGHT OF THE DIARIES OF RAUF FICO, THE MINISTER PLENIPOTENTIARY OF ANKARA(2018) Ozca, HalilThe diaries of RaufFico, Albanian Minister Plenipotentiary to Ankara, gives a lot of useful information about Albania-Turkey relations that had not been stumbled across in the literature until today. The aim of this study is to point out Atatiirk's views on relations between Albania and Turkey, Albania and Italy, as well as his suggestions to Albanian envoy in Ankara about how to overcome the Albanian dependency on Italy. The research is based on the diaries of Fico, Albanian Minister Plenipotentiary to Ankara. The study is limited with focusing on the Italian factor in Albania's relations with Turkey rather than examining all aspects of the relationship between the two independent countries. Fico had had formal education in the Ottoman Empire and occupied bureaucratic posts such as being provincial governor and following independence of Albania started to work for Albanian government as an important diplomat. Therefore, his diaries provide us a plenty of information on the question of Albania's relations with Turkey as well as with Italy, particularly between 1925 and 1928 during which there had been a Republican regime in Albania. In fact, Fico's diaries give perfect information about close relations between Turkey and Albania and the importance given by Mustafa Kemal Atatiirk on these relations at bilateral level, at least until the destruction of the Republican regime by Ahmet Zogu who would proclaim himself as the King of Albania in 1928. The content of the Fico's diaries are very rich in a way that they consist problems of Orthodox Albanians in Istanbul, positions of Albanians in Kosovo, the exchange of Albanian Chams, reforms in Turkey, assassination attempt to Atatirk in izmir and main themes in Nutuk. It should be kept in mind that the scope of this study is confined, first, to suggestions of Ataturk to the Albanian government regarding getting rid of dependency on Italy, and second, to his foresight about Italy's position towards Albania and Turkey. In this respect, the Fico's diaries give invaluable information on all these subjects elaborated in this paper.
