Fibrinolytic administration is still a life-saving choice in ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI), but the rate of successful reperfusion can be inconsistent. Failed reperfusion adds additional clinical risks to rescue percutaneous coronary intervention for STEMI patients. The interval between the peak of the T wave and the end of the T wave (Tpe) and the ratio of Tpe and a corrected measurement of the time from the start of the Q wave to the end of the T wave (Tpe/QTc ratio) are relatively new electrocardiogram (ECG) indices and have not yet been tested in STEMI patients treated with fibrinolytic agents. Methods: A total of 177 STEMI patients (mean age: 60.5 +/- 11.1 years; 138 men and 39 women) were enrolled in this retrospective study to evaluate ECG parameters. The Tpe interval and the Tpe/QTc ratio at baseline and at the 90th minute following the administration of fibrinolytic therapy were analyzed. The clinical and ECG findings of successful and failed reperfusion groups were compared. Results: Successful reperfusion was achieved in 119 patients (67.2%). The average Tpe interval on the admission ECG was shorter (91.7 vs. 100.9 milliseconds [ms]) (p<0.001) and shortened more in the successful reperfusion group (9.3 vs. 4.5 ms) (p<0.001). A cut-off value of 89.0 ms for the Tpe interval on the admission ECG was found to be related to reperfusion success with a sensitivity of 90.9%. Conclusion: The Tpe interval was a predictor for reperfusion success in STEMI patients treated with fibrinolytic agents.Item The adverse effects of valproic acid on visual functions in the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa(2017) Yuce, Aslihan; Totan, Yuksel; Guler, Emre; Dervisogullari, Mehmet Serdar; 29044065Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of valproic acid (VPA) treatment in patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Methods: A total of 48 eyes of 24 patients (13 males, 11 females) with RP prescribed VPA were included. The length of VPA treatment was 6-12 months (mean 9.4 months). Parameters evaluated were best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) (logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution [logMAR]), visual field analyses (VFAs) with Humprey automated perimetry, multifocal electroretinography (ERG) with Roland-RETI scan, and VPA side effects. Results: Mean age was 34.3 +/- 10.3 years (range 18-56 years). Fifteen of the patients (30 eyes) had two ERG and VFA tracings, allowing comparison between baseline and follow-up (range 6-12 months). Mean BCVA before and after VPA therapy was 0.36 +/- 0.38 and 0.36 +/- 0.37 logMAR, respectively (P = 0.32). Quantitative perimetric indices including mean deviation and pattern standard deviation were not significantly changed after VPA therapy (P > 0.05). P1 amplitudes (in terms of nV/deg(2) and mV) of ERG waves were significantly decreased in the rings 1, 3, and 4 after VPA therapy (P < 0.05). Regarding the N1 amplitudes, the only significant decrease was observed in area 1 (P = 0.03). In addition, N1 latency was significantly increased in area 3 after VPA therapy (P = 0.04). Conclusions: VPA therapy did not have any significant benefit on BCVA and VFA. In addition, it may be associated with decline in some ERG parameters. Therefore, physicians should avoid prescribing VPA for RP until its safety and efficacy are appropriately evaluated.Item ALG1-CDG: Clinical and Molecular Characterization of 39 Unreported Patients(2016) Alehan, Fusun; 26931382Congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG) arise from pathogenic mutations in over 100 genes leading to impaired protein or lipid glycosylation. ALG1 encodes a beta 1,4 mannosyltransferase that catalyzes the addition of the first of nine mannose moieties to form a dolichol-lipid linked oligosaccharide intermediate required for proper N-linked glycosylation. ALG1 mutations cause a rare autosomal recessive disorder termed ALG1-CDG. To date 13 mutations in 18 patients from 14 families have been described with varying degrees of clinical severity. We identified and characterized 39 previously unreported cases of ALG1-CDG from 32 families and add 26 new mutations. Pathogenicity of each mutation was confirmed based on its inability to rescue impaired growth or hypoglycosylation of a standard biomarker in an alg1-deficient yeast strain. Using this approach we could not establish a rank order comparison of biomarker glycosylation and patient phenotype, but we identified mutations with a lethal outcome in the first two years of life. The recently identified protein-linked xeno-tetrasaccharide biomarker, NeuAc-Gal-GlcNAc2, was seen in all 27 patients tested. Our study triples the number of known patients and expands the molecular and clinical correlates of this disorder. (C) 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Item Alpha-Thalassemia Mutations in Adana Province, Southern Turkey: Genotype-Phenotype Correlation(2015) Bozdogan, Sevcan Tug; Yuregir, Ozge Ozalp; Buyukkurt, Nurhilal; Aslan, Huseyin; Ozdemir, Zeynep Canan; Gambin, Tomasız; 25825562To look over the distribution of the mutations in a large series from Adana province, Southern Turkey, and determine the genotype-phenotype correlation of the frequent mutations. Among the 2500 individuals with mild or moderate anemia, microcytosis, and normal iron levels that were referred to our Genetic Diagnosis Center, a population consisting of 539 individuals were included in the study and tested for alpha-thalassemia mutations by using reverse dot blot hybridization technique. Twelve different mutations were detected in 539 patients. Among the 12 different mutations found, the most frequent mutations were the -alpha(3.7) (63.3 %), --(MED) (11.7 %), --(20.5) (10.7 %), alpha 2(IVS1(-5nt)) (3.9 %), and alpha 2(polyA-2) (3.5 %). The most frequent genotypes were -alpha(3.7)/alpha alpha (35.8 %), -alpha(3.7)/-alpha(3.7)(18.9 %), -(20.5)/alpha alpha (11.5 %), and --(MED)/alpha alpha (10.4 %), respectively. There were statistically significant differences in hematological findings between -alpha(3.7)/-alpha(3.7) and --(MED)/alpha alpha, even though both have two mutated genes in the genotype. Our results show that alpha-thalassemia mutations are highly heterogeneous as well as deletional and -alpha(3.7) single gene deletion is particularly prevalent at Adana province in agreement to other studies from Turkey.Item Alternative tumor markers in the diagnosis of ovarian cancer(2016) Karakaya, Burcu Kisa; Baser, Eralp; Bildaci, Berk; Comert, Esra Cabuk; Bayraktar, Nilufer; Dursun, Polat; Kuscu, Esra; Ayhan, Ali; 0000-0002-0992-6980; 0000-0002-7886-3688; 27629130; AAI-8792-2021; Y-8758-2018; AAJ-5802-2021Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the usefulness of various tumor markers (CA125, HE4, bcl2) measured in serum, urine and saliva in the differential diagnosis of adnexal masses. Material and methods: Our study was conducted at the Baskent University Medical School, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ankara, Turkey, between November 2010 and March 2011. Fifty patients with a suspicion of malignant adnexal mass and 30 controls were included in the study. Serum and urine CA-125, HE4, and bcl2 levels were evaluated for their role in the diagnosis of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Results: Serum CA-125 and HE4 levels, and urine HE4 levels were significantly higher in malignant cases as compared to controls (p < 0.05). Mean levels of bcl2 in saliva and urine were similar in malignant cases and controls (p > 0.05). Conclusions: We demonstrated that serum CA125, serum HE4 and urine HE4 levels were elevated in patients with ovarian cancer. These findings should be assessed in future studies with larger sample sizes in order to reach more definite conclusions.Item Ambulatory colonoscopy under sedoanalgesia in adult patients with and without irritable bowel syndrome: A prospective, cross-sectional, and double-blind comparison(2018) Tuncali, Bahattin; Araz, Coskun; Celebi, Arzu; 29755018Background/Aims: it is unclear whether patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) require a high dose of sedatives during colonoscopy. In this study, we investigated the pre-procedural anxiety levels, sedative consumption, procedure times, complications, and patient's satisfaction between patients with IBS and controls for ambulatory colonoscopy under sedation. Materials and Methods: Rome III criteria were used in the diagnosis of IBS. Anxiety levels were measured using Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BA/). Patients received a fixed dose of midazolam (0.02 mg/kg), fentanyl (1 mu g/kg), ketamine (0.3 mg/kg), and incremental doses of propofol under sedation protocol. Demographic data, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation were measured. Procedure times, recovery and discharge times, drug doses used, complications associated with the sedation, and patient's satisfaction scores were also recorded. Results: The mean Trait (p=0.015), State (p=0.029), Beck anxiety scores (p=0.018), the incidence of disruptive movements (p=0.044), and the amount of propofol (p=0.024) used were significantly higher in patients with IBS. There was a decline in mean systolic blood pressure at the 6th minute in patients with IBS (p=0.026). No association was found between the sedative requirement and the anxiety scores. Conclusion: Patients with IBS who underwent elective colonoscopy procedures expressed higher pre-procedural anxiety scores, required more propofol consumption, and experienced more disruptive movements compared with controls. On the contrary, the increased propofol consumption was not associated with the increased pre-procedural anxiety scores.Item AMINOGLYCOSIDE RESISTANCE DETERMINANTS IN MULTIRESISTANT ESCHERICHIA COLI AND KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE CLINICAL ISOLATES FROM TURKISH AND SYRIAN PATIENTS(2019) Cirit, Osman Sezer; Fernandez-Martinez, Marta; Yayla, Buket; Martinez-Martinez, Luis; 30803254Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae are frequently found resistance to aminoglycosides in Turkey. The aim of this study was to investigate aminoglycoside resistance in clinical isolates of E. coli and K. pneumoniae from Turkey using both phenotypic and genotypic methods and screening for the prevalence of gene coding for common aminoglycoside-modifying enzymes (AMEs) and 16S rRNA methylase genes. A total of 88 consecutive, non-duplicated E. coli (n = 65) and K. pneumoniae (n = 23) isolates showing resistance or intermediate resistance to amikacin and/or gentamicin were collected between October 2013 and May 2015 from clinical samples received at Gaziantep Dr. Ersin Arslan Training and Research Hospital. Seventeen isolates were obtained from Syrian patients. Isolates resistant to any of the two aminoglycosides were tested by PCR for seven AME genes, and 22 isolates with amikacin MIC >= 16 mg/L were also tested for 16S rRNA methylase genes. In E. coli isolates, the most frequent genes were aac(6')-Ib (50 strains; 76.9%) and aae(3)-Ha (40 strains; 70.7%), followed by aph(3)-Ia (5 strains; 7.6%) and ant(2 '''')-Ia (2 strains; 3.1%). Among the 23 resistant K. pneumoniae isolates, the most prevalent gene was aae(3)-Ha (87.0%) followed by aac(6')-Ib (73.9%) and aph(3')-Ia (8.6%). The rmtC gene was detected in one K. pneumoniae isolate. Resistance to aminoglycosides in clinical isolates of E. coli and K. pneumoniae from our center is predominantly caused by AAC(6')-Ib and AAC(3)-II enzymes, while the occurrence of 16S rRNA methylases is so far limited.Item Amiodarone Induced Epididymitis: A Case Report(2014) Cicek, Tufan; Demir, Canan Cicek; Coban, Gokcen; Coner, AliIntroduction: Amiodarone is an effective drug for life-threatening arrhythmias like recurrent ventricular fibrillation and atrial fibrillation. Amiodarone creates rarely genitourinary side effects are seen. These are epididymitis, testicular dysfunction and impotance. Amiodarone aggregates and triggers inflammation in the head of the epididym. Case report: We present the case of a patient who developed epididymitis after 17 months of amiodarone therapy, using a low dose (100 mg per day). Although cessation of medication or dose lowering was not performed, remission of the patient only by analgesics is a distinct case reported in urological literature. Conclusions: This case stresses the importance of considering an adverse effect of amiodarone treatment as a cause when making a differential diagnosis of epididymitis.Item Anaesthesia Management of a Patient with Factor XI Deficiency(2016) Adibelli, Bilgehan; Araz, Coskun; Ersoy, Zeynep; Kayhan, Zeynep; 0000-0002-4927-6660; 0000-0003-0767-1088; 0000-0003-0579-1115; 27366578; AAJ-4576-2021; AAF-3066-2021; AAJ-4623-2021Factor XI deficiency is an extremely rare disease presenting no clinical symptoms, unless there is an inducing reason such as trauma or surgery. Normally, factor levels are in the range of 70-150 U dL-1 in healthy subjects. Although no clinical symptoms are seen, only high levels of aPTT can be found. Once a prolongation is detected in aPTT, factor XI deficiency should be suspected and factor levels should be analysed. With careful preoperative preparations in factor-deficient people, preoperative and postoperative complications can be decreased. In this case report, management of anaesthesia during total hip arthroplasty of a patient with factor XI deficiency is presented.Item Anaesthetic Management of a Patient with Brugada Syndrome in Total Knee Arthroplasty(2021) Tuncali, Bahattin; Kokten, Gizem; Alun, Cihan; 0000-0002-7898-2943; 33718910; AAJ-7840-2021We report the case of a 52-year-old female diagnosed with Brugada syndrome (BrS) scheduled to undergo right total knee arthroplasty. General anaesthesia was induced and maintained with thiopental intravenous sodium + remifentanil and sevoflurane + remifentanil infusion, respectively. Rocuronium bromide was used as the muscle relaxant. The defibrillator was ready for use with the electrodes on the patient. Sugammadex was used for muscle relaxant antagonization. Postoperative analgesia was provided by intermittent morphine HCL via an epidural catheter, intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (Meperidine), and intravenous tenoxicam. The patient was discharged on the 6th day without any problem. Anaesthetic management of patients with BrS is challenging for anaesthesiologists, because fatal cardiac arrhythmias can be triggered by many drugs commonly used in the perioperative period such as bupivacaine, lidocaine, neostigmine, propofol, succinylcholine, ketamine, and tramadol. In these cases, a detailed preoperative evaluation including family history, avoidance of drugs triggering arrhythmia, taking precautions against arrhythmia, and using the agents that are reported to be safe are essential for patient safety.Item Analysis and injury paterns of walnut tree falls in central anatolia of turkey(2014) Ersoy, Suleyman; Sonmez, Bedriye Muge; Yilmaz, Fevzi; Kavalci, Cemil; Ozturk, Derya; Altinbilek, Ertugrul; Alagoz, Fatih; Cesur, Fatma; Yildirim, Ali Erdem; Uckun, Ozhan Merzuk; Akin, TezcanIntroduction: Falls are the second most common cause of injury-associated mortality worldwide. This study aimed to analysis the injuries caused by falls from walnut tree and assess their mortality and morbidity risk. Methods: This is a retrospective hospital-based study of patients presenting to emergency department (ED) of Ahi Evran Univercity between September and October 2012. For each casualty, we computed the ISS (defined as the sum of the squares of the highest Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) score in each of the three most severely injured body regions). Severe injury was defined as ISS >= 16. The duration of hospital stay and final outcome were recorded. Statistical comparisons were carried out with Chi-Square test for categorical data and non-parametric spearman correlation tests were used to test the association between variables. A p value less than 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: Fifty-four patients admitted to our emergency department with fall from walnut tree. Fifty (92.6%) patients were male. The mean age was 48 +/- 14 years. Spinal region (44.4%) and particularly lumbar area (25.9%) sustained the most of the injuries among all body parts. Wedge compression fractures ranked first among all spinal injuries. Extremities injuries were the second most common injury. None of the patients died. Morbidity rate was 9.25%. Conclussion: Falls from walnut trees are a significant health problem. Preventive measures including education of farmers and agricultural workers and using mechanized methods for harvesting walnut will lead to a dramatic decrease in mortality and morbidity caused by falls from walnut trees.Item Analysis Of Gingival Display During Static And Dynamic Smiles In A Turkish Sample: A Clinical Study(2022) Arifagaoglu, Ozge; Yilmaz, Umran; 35478707Purpose The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of smile types in spontaneous smiles among a Turkish population aged 18-23 and to compare it with the prevalence of static smiles. Materials and Methods This study was carried out with 150 undergraduate students at Baskent University Faculty of Dentistry (75 females, 75 males). For this purpose, photo recordings for static smiles and 20-second video recordings for dynamic smiles were taken 40 cm from the participant's nose. Measurements were made with an electronic ruler. Results High smile line was found to be the highest prevalence in both static and dynamic smiles (p<0.001). The average soft tissue display is higher in dynamic smiles (p<0.05). In both static and dynamic smiles, the average amount of gingival display was higher in females than in males (p<0.05). Conclusion When the smile line was evaluated on the photograph recordings while the patient was posing, it was found to be lower than the natural spontaneous smile line obtained from the video recordings. Since the gingival display increases when patients smile naturally instead of posing, clinical evaluations and restorative considerations should be planned according to the dynamic smile.Item Analysis of Quality of Life, Depression, and Sexual Function in Patients on the Liver Transplant List(2021) Fidan, Cihan; Akdur, Aydincan; Kirnap, Mahir; Selcuk, Haldun; Yildirim, Sedat; Moray, Gokhan; Haberal, Mehmet; 0000-0002-3462-7632; 0000-0002-8726-3369; 34609310; AAJ-8097-2021; AAA-3068-2021Background: I he only treatment in patients developing liver failure is liver transplantation. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of patients waiting for a liver transplantation is 2141, the average waiting period for liver transplantation is approximately 5 years, and 15-18% of these patients lose their life while waiting for transplantation. In these patients, limitations in daily activities and depression-anxiety are commonly found. The aim of this study was to analyze life quality, depression symptoms, and existence of sexual functional disorders of patients waiting for liver transplantation. Methods: A total of 74 patients, who were registered in Baskent University Hospital between 2015 and 2018, were included into the study. Short Form-36, Beck Depression Inventory, and Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale were applied to 56 patients who approved study. Results: Most of the patients were male (64.3%), and the mean age was 46 (18-64). Short Form-36 scores were low in all patients. The mean Beck Depression Inventory score of patients was found as 18.4 +/- 11.3, and they were suffering from moderate depressive symptoms. According to Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale, total mean scores of males was found as 16.3 +/- 5.5, and for females, it was 19.5 +/- 5.3 with a statistically significant difference (P < .05). It was found that sexual dysfunction mostly had moderate to mild. Conclusion: Depression and sexual dysfunction are common in patients with chronic liver diseases, and their life qualities deteriorate significantly. It is anticipated that evaluation of these patients in terms of psychological issues and sexual dysfunction will increase their quality of life during the organ waiting period and affect their well-being post-transplant.Item Analysis of right ventricle function with strain imaging before and after pulmonary valve replacement(2016) Gursu, Hazim Alper; Varan, Birgul; Sade, Elif; Erdogan, Ilkay; Ozkan, Murat; 26779972Background: Pulmonary valve insufficiency may develop after surgical treatment of tetralogy of Fallot (ToF). Severe pulmonary valve insufficiency may result in right ventricular dysfunction. We aimed to compare cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), with echocardiography. Methods: Patients who developed severe pulmonary valve insufficiency after total correction for ToF, were included in the study. CMR was used to measure end-diastolic, end-systolic volumes and ejection fraction of the right ventricle before and 6 months after replacement, and echocardiographic strain imaging was obtained before, and 1, 3, and 6 months after replacement. Results: There were significant differences between pre- and post-replacement QRS durations, and right ventricle end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes measured with CMR (p < 0.05). However, right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) did not change. Therefore, CMR determined that right ventricle size and volume increased, and right ventricular function deteriorated before replacement. After replacement, no significant improvement was seen in RVEF. Lower-than-normal right ventricle strain and strain rate before replacement indicated that healthy and dysfunctional myocardium could be differentiated by this method. Pre-replacement strain and strain rate of asymptomatic and symptomatic patients were similar. Strain and strain rate values increased 6 months after replacement (p < 0.05). Methods: This study included a total of 100 patients younger than 18 years of age who had isolated head trauma. The admission blood glucose levels of these patients were measured. Age at the time of the incident, sex, mode of occurrence of the trauma, computed tomography findings, and GCSs were recorded. Kruskall Wallis test was used compare of groups. A p value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The median age of the study population was 7 years and the median GCS was 11. There was a significant negative correlation between blood glucose level and GCS (p < 0.05). A significant correlation in the negative direction was observed between GCS and blood glucose level (r = -0.658, p < 0.05). Seventy-seven percent of the patients were admitted to hospital, while 6% died in ED. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that hyperglycemia at an early stage and a low GCS may be reliable predictors of the severity of head trauma and prognosis. A higher blood glucose level may be an ominous sign that predicts a poor prognosis and an increased risk of death.Item Analysis of the effectiveness of ultrasound and clinical examination methods in fetal weight estimation for term pregnancies(2015) Zahran, Mehmet; Tohma, Yusuf Aytac; Erkaya, Salim; Evliyaoglu, Ozlem; Colak, Eser; Coskun, Bora; 28913073Objective: To compare the accuracy of clinical and ultrasonographic (USG) estimation of fetal weight in non-complicated, term pregnancies. Materials and Methods: Two hundred term pregnant women were included in the study. We used three formulae for the estimation of fetal weight at term; the Hadlock formula for the USG method, and two different formulas for clinical methods, maternal symphysis-fundal height and abdominal circumference at the level of umbilicus. Accuracy was determined by mean percentage error, mean absolute percentage error and proportion of estimates within 10% of actual birth weight (birth weight +/- 10%). Patients were divided into two groups according to actual birth weight, the normal birth weight group (2500-3999 g) and high birth weight group (>= 4000 g). Results: All three methods statistically overestimated birth weight for the high and normal birth weight groups (p<0.001, p=1.000, p=0.233) (p=0.037, p<0.001, and p<0.001). For both groups, the mean absolute percentage errors of USG were smaller than for the other two clinical methods and the number of estimates were within 10% of actual birth weight for USG was greater than for the clinical methods; the differences were statistically significant (p<0.001). No statistically significant difference of accuracy was observed for all three methods for the high birth weight group (p=0.365, p=0.768, and p=0.540). However, USG systematically underestimated birth weight in this group. Conclusion: For estimation of fetal birth weight in term pregnancies, ultrasonography is better than clinical methods. In the suspicion of macrosomia, it must be remembered that no method is better than any other. Materials and methods: WHO ICD-10 mortality list data and the World Bank Country Data (WBCD) were used between 1997 and 2017 for 12 countries. Cubic regression analysis was used for EKC Analysis. Results: The difference between male and female deaths between 1996 and 1998 has increased sharply since 1999. Male deaths consistently occurred significantly more than female deaths. There was a significant and negative correlation between Nitrous oxide emissions (% change from 1990) and tuberculosis-related deaths, whereas there were significant and positive correlations between Nitrous oxide emissions in the energy sector (% of total) and tuberculosis-related deaths (p < 0.01). EKC analysis results showed that there is a U shaped between tuberculosis-related mortality and nitrous oxide emission levels in the world. Conclusion: Research results show that the relationship between nitrous oxide change and mortality is negative in the short term and positive in the long term. Therefore, although nitrous oxide gases cause respiratory diseases and mortality, it may be possible to transform a harmful environmental factor into a positive by developing devices or methods that will convert these gases into free radicals.Item Analysis Of Therapy Monitoring In The International Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Registry(2022) Guven, Ayla; 35781728Objective Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) requires exogenous steroid replacement. Treatment is commonly monitored by measuring 17-OH progesterone (17OHP) and androstenedione (D4). Design Retrospective cohort study using real-world data to evaluate 17OHP and D4 in relation to hydrocortisone (HC) dose in CAH patients treated in 14 countries. Patients Pseudonymized data from children with 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21OHD) recorded in the International CAH Registry. Measurements Assessments between January 2000 and October 2020 in patients prescribed HC were reviewed to summarise biomarkers 17OHP and D4 and HC dose. Longitudinal assessment of measures was carried out using linear mixed-effects models (LMEM). Results Cohort of 345 patients, 52.2% female, median age 4.3 years (interquartile range: 3.1-9.2) were taking a median 11.3 mg/m(2)/day (8.6-14.4) of HC. Median 17OHP was 35.7 nmol/l (3.0-104.0). Median D4 under 12 years was 0 nmol/L (0-2.0) and above 12 years was 10.5 nmol/L (3.9-21.0). There were significant differences in biomarker values between centres (p < 0.05). Correlation between D4 and 17OHP was good in multiple regression with age (p < 0.001, R-2 = 0.29). In longitudinal assessment, 17OHP levels did not change with age, whereas D4 levels increased with age (p < 0.001, R-2 = 0.08). Neither biomarker varied directly with dose or weight (p > 0.05). Multivariate LMEM showed HC dose decreasing by 1.0 mg/m(2)/day for every 1 point increase in weight standard deviation score. Discussion Registry data show large variability in 17OHP and D4 between centres. 17OHP correlates with D4 well when accounting for age.
