Item The importance of attachment in infant and influencing factors(2019) Karakas, Nazmi Mutlu; Dagli, Figen Sahin; 0000-0003-4286-7086; 31384141; AAX-3831-2020Attachment is a pattern of interaction and communication established and developed between mother and baby. For the growth of mentally and physically healthy individuals, the mother is expected to create a suitable attachment starting before the birth and to maintain it afterwards. It is also necessary for the baby to establish appropriate and safe attachment towards the mother in a similar manner. There are several factors that affect the attachment. Also, some studies show that children with attachment problems also have problems in their future lives. Healthcare professionals need to be aware of these factors and evaluate the child in terms of healthy parental communication and child development in well-child visits. As a result of these evaluations, multidisciplinary approaches to the mother-child pair can be established and the child's health is protected mentally and physically for healthy generations.Item Mother-child attachment patterns in mothers with and without a history of adverse childhood experiences(2020) Karakas, Nazmi Mutlu; Sari, Burcu Akin; Aksakal, Fatma Nur Baran; Ozdemir, Dilsad Foto; Dagli, Figen Sahin; 0000-0002-9730-7206; 0000-0002-9730-7206; S-3910-2019; A-7296-2013According to attachment theory, infants establish an attachment bond that gives them confidence and comfort, and the figure of attachment forms a secure basis for the infant. A history of abuse and neglect in the mother can affect her style of attachment to her infant. The aim in the present study is to investigate mother-child attachment patterns in mothers with and without a history of abuse. Of the 94 mothers, 50% had a childhood history of abuse, and of these 47 mothers, 61.7% had experienced physical abuse, 53.19% had experienced emotional abuse, 29.78% had experienced negligence and 6.38% had experienced sexual abuse. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups with and without a history of abuse in this regard. When the attachment patterns of the mothers in the two groups with their own mothers were evaluated, there was a significant difference in terms of their attachment patterns with their fathers. Although no significant relationship was observed between the history of abuse and attachment pattern, mothers with a history of abuse in childhood exhibited an insecure attachment. Education level can be a protective factor in establishing an attachment pattern, while intergenerational interactions can be suggested to affect attachment patterns.Item Use of psychodrama method in trainings about child abuse and neglect(2019) Dagli, Figen Sahin; Taskiran, Candan; Krespi, Margorit Rita; Gokler, BaharObjective: Child abuse and neglect should be a main topic in trainings of students who have a possibility to encounter a neglected and abused child in their future professional lives. Use of psychodrama in training such an important and sensitive subject is a novel approach. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the effects of psychodrama method for the training about child abuse and neglect given to university students. Method: In this training, a group of 11 students attended the 16 week course, once a week for 2,5 hours. The effects of this training were evaluated by quantitative and qualitative methods. Results: For quantitative analysis pre and post training knowledge tests revealed scores of 33 and 39 respectively. The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Awareness test scores for pre and post training evaluation were 85 and 89 respectively. Although there was an increase after training this increase was not statistically significant (p=0.65). Focus group interview which was performed for qualitative analysis revealed that the training increased the participants' awareness and empathy, made them more sensitive for the news about children and child abuse, taught them not to judge people, encouraged them for their future career and made them understand the importance of multidisciplinary approach. Discussion: These perceived benefits indicate that psychodrama method may be used to teach the topic of child abuse and neglect.
