    Psikoterapide “Yaklaşmakta olan ölüm” ile çalışmak: Kanser hastaları ile çalışan psikoterapistlerin deneyimlerinin araştırılması

    Bu tez çalışmasının temel amacı, Türkiye’de kanser hastaları ile psikoterapi yapmakta olan psikoterapistlerin deneyimlerine dair bilgi edinmektir. Yaygın ve önde gelen bir ölüm nedeni olarak kanser, ölümcül hastalığın terapideki etkisi ile ilgili konuları incelemek için uygun bir seçim olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma, ölümcül bir hastalık olan kanser ile çalışmanın terapi sürecine ve terapiste olan etkilerine odaklanmaktadır. Psikoterapistlerin kanser gibi ölümcül bir hastalık ile terapi sürecinde nasıl ilerlediğini, diğer danışan gruplarından farklı olarak bu danışanlar ile terapinin nasıl etkilediğini ve bu sürecin psikoterapistler için etkilerini derinlemesine öğrenmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de ölümcül bir hastalık olan kanser tanısı konmuş bireylerle çalışan psikoterapistlerin deneyimlerini derinlemesine anlamak için nitel araştırma yapılmış, kanser hastalarıyla çalışan 9 psikoterapist ile görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın analizinde yorumlayıcı fenomenolojik analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerin sonucunda ölümcül hastalığın terapist üzerindeki etkileri için 4, terapi üzerindeki etkileri için ise 3 olmak üzere toplam 7 tema belirlenmiştir. Bu temalar şunlardır: (1) Maruz Kalınan Ölüm, (2) Yaşamın Varlığı, (3) Ölümün Ağırlığından Kaçış, (4) Açığa Çıkan Duygular, (5) Ölümle Çevrelenmiş Terapi, (6) Terapide Algılanan Ölümün İzleri, (7) Fiziksel Bozulmaların Gölgesinde Terapi. The main aim of this thesis is to gam insight into the experiences of psychotherapists practising psychotherapy with cancer patients in Turkey. Cancer, as a common and leading cause of death, was chosen as an appropriate choice to explore issues related to the impact of terminal illness in therapy. The research focuses on the impact of working with cancer as a terminal illness on the therapy process and the therapist. The aim is to learn in depth how psychotherapists progress in the process of therapy with a terminal illness such as cancer, how therapy with these clients differs from other client groups, and the implications of this process for psychotherapists. In this study, qualitative research was conducted to understand in depth the experiences of psychotherapists working with individuals diagnosed with cancer, a terminal illness in Turkey, and interviews were conducted with 9 psychotherapists working with cancer patients. The interpretive phenomenological analysis method was used to analyse the study. As a result of the analysis a total of 7 themes were identified, 4 for the impact of terminal illness on the therapist and 3 for the impact on therapy. These themes are as follows: (1) Exposed Death, (2) Presence of Life, (3) Escape from the Severity of Death, (4) Revealed Emotions, (5) Therapy Surrounded by Death, (6) Traces of Perceived Death in Therapy, (7) Therapy in the Silhouette of Physical Deterioration.
