Bodrum yarımadası eskiçeşme bölgesinde bulunan tarihi yel değirmenlerinin koruma ve yeniden işlevlendirme önerisi

Abstract

Tarihi yapılar bulundukları bölgenin kültürünün önemli bir parçasıdır. Bu yapıların korunarak gelecek nesillere aktarılması yalnız mimari açıdan değil kültürel ve ekonomik açılardan da katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, yel değirmenlerinin Bodrum’a kazandırılması ve değirmencilik kültürünün korunması amaçlanarak bir koruma projesi önerilmiştir. Bu koruma projesinde Bodrum-Eskiçeşme bölgesinde bulunan yel değirmenlerine yeni işlevler önerilmiştir. Eskiçeşme bölgesinde bulunan sekiz adet yel değirmeni merkeze oldukça yakın, Bodrum koyuna hâkim ve panoramik manzaraya sahip yüksek bir tepede konumlanmıştır. Aynı zamanda çok fazla yerli ve yabancı turistin ilgisini çekmektedir. Tarihi ve kültürel olarak oldukça değerli olduğu düşünülen bu yapıların bakımsızlık sebebiyle her geçen gün daha fazla bozulmayla karşılaşması bu bölgenin araştırılmaya değer görülmesine sebep olmuştur. Bu sekiz değirmenden ikisi strüktürel durumları, birbirine olan yakınlığı gibi nedenlerle seçilerek diğer değirmenlerden daha kapsamlı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Bu çalışma toplam sekiz bölümden oluşmaktadır. 1. bölümde araştırmanın amacı, kapsamı ve yöntemine yer verilmektedir. 2. bölümde değirmenlerin tarihçesi, çeşitleri, çalışma prensipleri ve mimarisi ele alınmıştır. 3. bölümde ise Bodrum yarımadası ve bu bölgede konumlanmış yel değirmenlerine yer verilmiştir. 4. bölümde Eskiçeşme bölgesinde bulunan yel değirmenleri detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. 5. bölümde yel değirmeni yapılarının yeniden işlevlendirme gereksinimleri irdelenmiştir. 6. bölümde yeniden işlevlendirme çalışmalarına yer verilmiştir. Son bölüm ise sonuç ve önerileri kapsamaktadır. Historical buildings are crucially important for the culture of any region. Preserving these buildings to transfer them to next generations is not only necessary for architectural but also for cultural and economic points of view. In this study, a preservation project has been suggested with the aim of preserving milling as a cultural heritage and refunctioning those historical buildings. In this preservation project new functions have been suggested for eight old windmills located in Bodrum-Eskiçeşme area. These mills are very close to the city centre and located on a hill with a fantastic panoramic view of Bodrum bay. This area with the mills is also very attractive both for local and foreign tourists. Those buildings which are considered to be invaluable in terms of both historical and cultural points are being destroyed gradually due to lack of care. Due to this, studying the windmills in that area is thought to be important. Considering their structural states and proximity to each other, two windmills out of eight are examined much more deeply. This study has eight sections. The first section has the aim, scope and method of the study. The history of the windmills, their types, working principles and architecture have been given in the second section. The third section describes Bodrum peninsula and the mills located there. In the fourth section the windmills in Eskiçeşme are examined in detail. The fifth section examines the requirements of refunctioning of the windmills. Section six contains refunctioning studies. The last section has conclusion and the suggestions.
