Public relations, is the sum of all activities of an institution to gain in a permanent way
of the trust, sympathy and support of target mass. The objective of the public relations
department in the libraries is to make people having positive opinions on the library.
Determining the situation of the public relations effort at the university library and
creating the solutions for the problems and developing the public relations work are
very important.
This work aims to clarify the opinions of the Başkent University Library users towards
public relations of the library. The work is conducted on academic staff and students of
the Baskent University, who are the users of library. Therefore, 200 people were
interviewed. The hypotheses of the work; “physical insufficiency, lack of information
that is demanded by the users, insufficient information about the library, ineffective use
of the public relations tools, consequently, public relations work in the BU Library are
not effective”. In the work, there are also personal observations about the activities of
the Başkent University Library on public relations.
At the end of the work, it is seen that the public relations activities of the Başkent
University Library are partially sufficient.
